A postdoc research associate position available for 12 months (or longer if part time) for someone with a PhD in History or a related discipline such as Anthropology, Sociology, Historical Geography, Digital Humanities. Closes 23 Feb 2020.

The University of Exeter Medical School is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the GCRF AHRC funded project Transdisciplinary Data Assemblages of Caribbean Food Systems. In this exciting collaborative project, we ask how transdisciplinary historical data (ranging from digital newspaper accounts to annual reports of the Ministry of Health, nutrition and health surveys and commercial, agricultural and land use data etc.) can be systematically assembled to understand the temporal complexity of Caribbean food systems.  This will involve collaborating with co-investigators across several universities in the UK and Jamaica. We aim to harness this historical perspective to inform policy and practice strategies for better nutrition and health. We are looking for someone with a PhD in History or a related discipline such as Anthropology, Sociology, Historical Geography, Digital Humanities who can clearly demonstrate knowledge and understanding in historical research techniques (quantitative and qualitative data sources) and the proven ability to undertake historical analysis at a high level. It is desirable that the candidate has knowledge of food, food systems or health, and we particularly encourage candidates with experience in the Caribbean to apply. The post is based in Truro, Cornwall, with fieldwork in Jamaica (University of the West Indies Mona Campus).
