CfP / Invitation – World Anthro Section of AA

The World Anthropologies section of American Anthropologist invites anthropologists living and working amid any of the growing nativist/nationalist/xenophobic/protectionist movements in various parts of the world, outside of the U.S., to submit short to medium-length pieces (anywhere from 1200 to 2000 words) to a special section planned for the september 2017 issue of the American Anthropologist. Essays in this planned WA section of AA may address how anthropologists respond to, interpret, analyze, engage with, resist, and/or teach about these movements, or how anthropologists in the past have responded to the rise of similar movements in their societies. Essays may be written in languages other than English, but will have to be translated into English before appearing in AA, so please submit your essay as early as possible especially if it will not be in English, and please let us know in advance if you plan to submit your essay in a language other than English so that we may find appropriate translators here.

Please submit your papers to Associate Editor Virginia R. Dominguez at dominguezvr@gmail.com and Editorial Assistant Emily Metzner at emilymetzner@gmail.com  by JANUARY 20, 2017.

If you are planning to submit something to us, please know that it would be especially helpful if you mail us as soon as possible to let us know. We will then be able to plan our work better and accordingly.
