OF (1,0 FTE) – HEALTHCARE GOVERNANCE
INSTITUTE OF HEALTH POLICY |+|AMP|+| MANAGEMENT

The institute of Health Policy & Management (iBMG) of Erasmus University
Rotterdam (EUR) is leading in the Netherlands with its educational and
research activities targeted at policy and management issues in health
care.

The institute offers a bachelor programme, two master programmes and
post-academic educational programmes and courses.

At iBMG, research and educational activities are closely intertwined.
Knowledge and experiences of various scientific disciplines such as
economics, law, social-medical sciences, organisational science and
public administration are brought together and applied to the health
care sector. This multidisciplinary approach to education and research
is unique.

iBMG is located in the Bayle Building (J) at campus Woudestein of
Erasmus University Rotterdam and has strong ties to Erasmus MC.
Currently, approximately 950 students are engaged in one of our
programmes and 150 people are employed at iBMG. Internationalisation is
highly valued at iBMG. The number of students, teachers and researchers
from abroad has risen significantly over the past years and have
enriched our programmes.

The position offered is within the Healthcare governance group.

THE HEALTHCARE GOVERNANCE GROUP
The group studies governing practices in health care and is focused on
three themes: Displacement of care, Valuation practices in healthcare
and Practices of supervision. The group mainly uses qualitative research
methods (with a focus on ethnography and discourse analyses) and has a
multi-disciplinary make up, comprising public administration, medical
and organization sociology and science & technology studies. The group
teaches in all programs of the Department, focusing on health policy,
critical management studies, and qualitative research methods.

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
The assistant professor will be involved in one or two research projects
funded by ZonMw through the academic collaborative on supervision in
healthcare, in collaboration with the Dutch Healthcare Inspectorate. The
assistant professor will for about 50% of his or her time be involved in
teaching in the bachelor and one of the master programs of the
Department, mainly focusing on critical management studies and quality &
safety of healthcare.

REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate should hold a PhD in science & technology
studies, public management or (medical or organizational) sociology or
anthropology, have a strong record of publication and experience in
participating in contract research. Preferably, the candidate should
have experience in studying governing practices using qualitative
research methods and should master the Dutch language. The successful
candidate should have experience in teaching at bachelor and master
levels.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
We offer an appointment as assistant professor for a period of 1 year.
Preferred starting date is SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2016. Remuneration will be
in accordance with scale 12 set by the Collective Labour Agreement for
Dutch Universities (CAO NU). Fulltime work will pay between € 4.120,-
and € 5.288,- depending on labour experience of the candidate. In
addition, there’s a set end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and generous
opportunities for taking time off. Fulltime is considered to be 38 hours
per week.
