Baltic Summer School of Anthropology and the Baltic Anthropology Graduate
School are bringing to you an exciting summer event “Plan-B: Horizontal
Metropolis and Shrinking Society”. The event is oriented to PhD and
advanced Master’s students from the Baltics as well as beyond. You will be
able to present and discuss your research, participate in design sprints
and audiovisual experiments. Along with lectures from speakers across the
topics of audio-visual and urban anthropology, human geography, design and
planning, this summer school offers a unique chance to practice various
experimental and audiovisual methods as well as analyse theories on the
impacts of metropolitan centres on the surrounding social space, of
shrinking populations and mobility.

Taking place in a carefully chosen setting at the Rucka Artist Residency in
the town of Cesis, surrounded by emptying Latvian countryside, the summer
school will also bring to you merry Northern evenings and camp atmosphere
amongst the peers.
