“Não existe um município em todo o país que se posicione contra os refugiados”, diz a especialista em migrações Cristina Santinho, do CRIA-ISCTE-IUL, em conversa com o “Spiegel Online”. O apoio também vem da igreja. Muitos portugueses também se voluntariaram para ajudar refugiados.
“É claro que há racismo em Portugal também, mas é pouco visível”, diz Santinho. Não existem grandes organizações xenófobas no país. Além disso, nenhuma das partes importantes representa tais posições. “A política aberta de refugiados é compartilhada pela política e pela sociedade civil”, diz Santinho.
